Last night in Castellammare di Stabia panic broke out on the streets. Some people, as seen in a video that several citizens sent to the deputy of the Green-Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, kicked and beat a Pitbull dog, which apparently had bitten and killed a much smaller dog being walked by a woman in order to drive it away. “The pitbull attacked a small dog out for a walk with its owner, bit and killed it,” explained the mayor of Castellammare, Luigi Vicinanza, when questioned by Borrelli. “The reaction of the passersby, as cruel as it may seem, was to make it release its grip, but the smaller dog was already dead. I hope the owner of the unleashed pitbull is identified as soon as possible.” “We expect law enforcement to quickly identify the owner of the dog who must be reported,” continues Deputy Borrelli. “It is not the first time a pitbull has bitten other animals or even people, and it won’t be the last if countermeasures are not taken. Large dogs by law must be kept on a leash and with a muzzle in public, but unfortunately very often the owners of these animals, in cases where we are referring to individuals with a strong criminal or sub-criminal mentality, disregard safety and regulations because for them their animals symbolize strength and dominance. Intimidating, instilling fear, living by their own rules is their prerogative. All at the expense of innocent animals and people around them. These people must be reported and severely punished. It is them and not the dogs who are not at fault.”
