Benevento. Revoked the position of a sixth defendant: a psychiatric evaluation for him
Benevento. The revocation of a position, a conviction, three indictments, and a rejection of a plea bargain. This is how Judge Vincenzo Landolfi ruled for the six people – a seventh has since passed away – involved in the anti-drug investigation led by Deputy Prosecutor Marilia Capitanio and the Carabinieri of the Benevento Company.
The conviction, with an abbreviated trial and a sentence of 5 years – the same amount requested by Prosecutor Maria Gabriella Di Lauro – with the revocation of a suspended sentence in another case, was established for Osvaldo De Cristofaro (lawyer Angelo Leone), 37 years old, from Sant’Angelo a Cupolo. On the other hand, Luca Senneca (lawyer Nazzareno Fiorenza), 29 years old, from San Nicola Manfredi, was denied a plea bargain of 6 months, in continuation with another conviction. Another judge will now have to rule on his case.
Alfredo Mucci (lawyer Antonio Leone), 46 years old, from Benevento, Roberto Barricelli (lawyer Claudio Fusco), 38 years old, from Ceppaloni, and Chiara De Luca (lawyers Roberto Pulcino and Vincenzo Regardi), 35 years old, from Sant’Angelo a Cupolo, will have to face trial, which will begin on October 30th.
Finally, the position of Gildo De Luca, 45 years old, was revoked: the judge accepted the request for a probative incident made by lawyers Regardi and Pulcino, appointing Dr. Paolo Cavalli to carry out a psychiatric evaluation to determine the man’s condition. The evaluation is scheduled for September 19th.
The investigation began after two car fires: one on May 13th, 2020, in the city, when flames engulfed a Fiat Panda, and the other, attributed to Barricelli, on July 16th, 2020, in Sant’Angelo a Cupolo, when he allegedly set fire to a C3, with the aim, according to the investigators, of punishing the owner for commenting on his ‘activities’ with others.
The fires were the starting point of an investigative work that, supported by telephone and environmental interceptions (in an Audi A4), images captured by surveillance systems, photographic identifications, searches, seizures of drugs, and statements from buyers, allowed the reconstruction of a series of episodes involving the sale of heroin, cocaine, crack, hashish, and marijuana, with prices ranging from 10 to 80 euros. The drugs would be delivered after a phone contact and a subsequent appointment.
