Acconcia (AIR): “Vile aggression. More controls are needed”
A case of violence in Avellino. “Acts like these are inexcusable and unacceptable. It is yet another vile attack that highlights the need for greater controls in the territories. I trust that the responsible person will be identified by the police, whom I thank for their prompt intervention. These criminals put the safety of passengers and our operators at risk. To Michele, I offer my support and wish for a speedy recovery,” said AIR Campania Administrator Anthony Acconcia.
A case of violence occurred in Avellino yesterday morning in the Mazzini neighborhood, where a young man approached a bus and broke the window with a motorcycle helmet. The shattered glass injured the driver, who was taken to the city hospital for various blows to the arm.
The AIR Campania bus of the urban Line 08, headed towards the central Via Carlo del Balzo, was stationary at that moment to allow pedestrians to cross, which was a favorable moment for the young man who, for reasons yet to be determined, was responsible for this act before fleeing.
The 43-year-old driver, originally from Scafati, suffered multiple abrasions to the forehead and head and will need seven days to recover.
The Carabinieri intervened on the scene and have initiated an investigation to identify the perpetrator of the act.
