A Caivano, on Thursday evening, moments of tension were recorded in front of the church of Don Maurizio Patriciello, in Parco Verde. Some women would have taken to the streets and with a megaphone would have asked the residents of the neighborhood to speak with Don Maurizio, while some of them would have proposed to occupy the church if the priest had refused. The parish priest would have spoken with them, then the conversation would have been interrupted due to the threatening attitude of some women. The carabinieri who arrived at the scene identified some of them (one of whom is the wife of a man believed to be connected to the clans) before they left. Among the probable reasons for the protest is the census of illegal occupations by the police.

Don Patriciello: “Here something beautiful is sparking, but it bothers the criminals”
“A spark, something beautiful, but it bothers the criminals: for years they did what they wanted because the ‘cat wasn’t there’, now things are changing.” This is how the parish priest of Parco Verde in Caivano speaks. “President De Luca is right when he says: ‘The state was not here’ – adds Don Patriciello -. Now we see daily checks, the presence of law enforcement is constant and this bothers them because it has dealt a heavy blow to the criminals who have been doing business with drugs for years.”

“Don’t judge everyone by the same yardstick”

According to the priest, the greatest responsibility lies with the municipal administrations “that have succeeded over the years.” “They all turned a blind eye,” an attitude that favored the spread of a general system of illegality. “But alongside the criminals, we also have decent people – he emphasizes – don’t judge everyone by the same yardstick.”
During a hearing at the Senate on the Caivano decree, aimed at restoring legality in those areas, on September 28, Don Patriciello had spoken about the reality of Parco Verde: “They have already come back with Kalashnikovs, it’s a challenge to the state.”
Caivano, Nappi (Lega): the Camorra feels the pressure from the state, close to Don Patriciello
“The intimidations that a group of women – including the wife of a boss – directed at Don Patriciello, testify to the effectiveness of the state’s action to free Parco Verde and Caivano from all forms of criminality. The Camorra, now on the ropes, can do nothing but use the weapon of threats and violence, but it will be of little use. Together with Don Patriciello and all those who fight daily to restore legality, livability, and decorum where they have been attacked, there is the state and an entire community animated by an unprecedented awakening.” This is stated by Severino Nappi, leader of the Lega in the regional council of Campania.
