Vincenzo Fiorillo, 91 years old, has spent a lifetime in Piazza Bellini. As the owner of the historic Bar Fiorillo, he is one of the iconic figures in the center of Naples. A true institution for entire generations of young people, who have spent their carefree moments at his counter and tables.

On May 1st, a 25-year-old homeless man, born in Germany, suddenly decided to attack him from behind, pushing him. Falling heavily onto those same tables that had been the stage of his life for over seventy years, Vincenzo hit his head, falling into a coma.
In these hours, the community is coming together around the Fiorillo family, anxiously awaiting positive news from the Cardarelli hospital, where he underwent surgery following a brain hemorrhage. Meanwhile, the aggressor has been arrested after physically attacking the Carabinieri, who struggled to handcuff him with kicks and punches.
A mad act, that of the homeless man, who arrived a few minutes after causing a scene for no reason towards some passersby. Vincenzo, with his always kind and humane manner, had gestured ‘no’ with his finger, and then offered him, as always, a croissant and coffee.
Even the Vesuvio Live editorial team, who personally knew Mr. Fiorillo, is hopeful for his awakening and stands by the family in this difficult time.
