Roberto Abbruzzo and Margherita della Ragione are the young victims of the collapse in Scampia, both died as a result of the collapse of the balcony on the third floor of the Vela Celeste: aunt and niece, both parents, would have tried to protect their children until the end.
Roberto and Margherita, aunt and niece who died in the collapse of Scampia
The first victim of the tragedy in Scampia, Roberto, a 28-year-old butcher, would have died instantly, leaving behind his wife and a 2-year-old daughter. Margherita, 35, would have passed away at the Cto hospital in Naples where she had been urgently transferred following a cardiac arrest, probably due to the serious injuries sustained.
Margherita, wife and mother of 3 children, was Roberto’s aunt, his mother’s sister. Both the victims and the 13 injured in the collapse, in fact, seemed to belong to the same family. According to the rumors provided by Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno, aunt and niece as soon as they realized the seriousness of the situation, rushed towards their children, embracing the girls to try to protect and save their lives.
In total, there are 13 injured. Of these, 7 are girls hospitalized at the Santobono hospital in Naples, with 2 small patients, aged 4 and 7, in very serious condition. Between the Mare hospital and the Cardarelli hospital, 5 other people are hospitalized, 2 of them in serious condition and almost all related to the victims.
A family tragedy, therefore, that has shocked the entire Neapolitan population and especially the residents of Scampia who immediately stepped up to help their neighbors. It was they who first rescued the girls trapped under the rubble, urgently transporting them to the pediatric center in Naples.
A drama that has set in motion a powerful chain of solidarity towards the displaced, the injured, and the families of the victims. Some well-known faces from the world of entertainment, such as Franco Ricciardi and Deborah De Luca, have also issued appeals to support Scampia.
