Ponteggi distrutti e materiale edile rubato. Il parroco: Profonda ferita alla Fede

Salerno. Vandalism unleashed in the night between Sunday 15th and Monday 16th October in the Ogliara district of Salerno. Unknown individuals targeted the Montestella Sanctuary.

“They acted cowardly under the cover of darkness,” commented a saddened Don Antonio Zolferino from the parish of “Santa Maria e San Nicola,” recalling the images of what happened.

All the scaffolding installed for the renovation work on the structure was uprooted, for which many have an indissoluble bond. The discovery was made by the workers in charge of carrying out the work at 7 am this morning. In addition, construction materials were stolen.

The works, which started immediately after the patronal feast, are funded by the Campania Region and will allow the renovation of the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Stella.

“The parish priest, the community of Ogliara, and all the faithful denounce and perceive this barbaric act as a deep wound inflicted on the Faith, traditions, and their own dignity. With this outrageous act, the House of the Celestial Mother, the treasure chest of the historical memories of our people, has been violated,” commented bitterly.

The mayor’s visit

Following what happened, the mayor of Salerno, Vincenzo Napoli, is expected to visit the parish of Santa Maria e San Nicola this afternoon at 6:30 pm.
